DISAPPOINTING OVERALL
Little River Band’s performance at the Orleans Showroom this past Saturday reflected the ‘new’ line ups’ dependence on its senior member, Wayne Nelson, to shoulder the majority of the vocal duties and how his performance impacted the show overall. Far too much talking and far too little rocking in the 90 minute show - I’ve seen LRB more than 10 times over the years and will probably not purchase tickets to see them again due to the ‘lounge band’ mediocre performance this past weekend. I overheard more than one attendee talking about their performance being more like a tribute band than the historical LRB of the past. Perhaps 45 years is enough.....this line up while reasonably tight, seemed to simply go through the motions of performing while depending on a very weak vocal showing by Nelson. His ability has definitely declined over the past 5 or so years - and if a new singer cannot be engaged, 850 more seats at venues like the Orleans will be a tough sell. Hopefully the memory of Glenn Shirrock and even Wayne’s vocal ability fro years past will stop being tarnished by performances such as was on display this past Saturday.....disappointing overall.
